You can check the IRS database of exempt organizations at https://apps.irs.gov/app/eos/.
- You will need to have your organization’s EIN to do this.
- If your organization's tax-exempt status is currently revoked or has been revoked in the past, you will see this notification:
- There will be a Posted Date under the Auto-Revocation List notification.
- It is possible that your chapter has applied for reinstatement of tax-exempt status. If you see a Determination Letter, this indicates that reinstatement has been applied for and granted in the past. You can click on the Final Letters link and view the letter:
- If the Auto-Revocation Posted Date is later than the date of the Determination Letter, your organization's exempt status is currently revoked.
